Hello, world: introducing Glasier
Welcome to the Glasier blog.
Glasier is where we build and ship products for the web. Our home is glasier.app, and everything we make lives under it. This blog is the place where we will share what we are building, how we build it, and what we learn along the way.
What we care about
A few ideas guide everything we make.
- A link should be enough. If something can run in the browser, it should. No install, no account wall, no waiting before you can try it.
- Fast on the phone in your pocket. Most people meet a product on a phone, often on a slow connection. We design for that first and make sure the big screen gets the rest.
- Small and deliberate. Every page and every kilobyte has to earn its place. This blog is plain HTML and CSS, and you can read every article with JavaScript turned off.
- Made in Indonesia, for everyone. Our work draws on the places and culture around us, and we build it to be enjoyed anywhere.
What we have shipped
Our first product is Turunan, a downhill mountain bike racing game that runs in the browser. Ten riders, six tracks inspired by the Indonesian landscape, online races with friends, and a daily challenge. It is free to play on a phone or a computer.
You can read the launch story in Introducing Turunan, and the technical story in Rebuilding Turunan Downhill from scratch.
What you will find here
We will write in three places:
- Product: what we ship, why we built it, and how to get the most out of it.
- Engineering: how our products are built, rebuilt, and kept fast. We will share what is useful to others and keep a few secrets of the kitchen to ourselves.
- News: announcements and updates from Glasier.
